Our Sovereign Group Vision &; Talent CSR Program (Tree Planting)

In 2024, on October
12th -Tree Planting Day, we will share a Program to guide our Business Unit's
HR Team on the activities they can carry out for their Team before the National
Tree Planting Day on October 13, 2024. We will appreciate them before the October
13th national Tree Planting Day.

Businesses are no longer judged by their value to the
Shareholder but by the value they
give to the broader Stakeholders. A positive stakeholder impact
of Sustainability and
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is in the area of staff
engagement. It’s high time we make every Talent in the Group a Sustainability
Champion. For every profit a business
makes, 5% requirement should be geared towards Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR). This Sustainability Strategy is about Talent
Fulfilment, Meaning and Giving Back. With the emergence of multi-generations in
the workplace, the younger Workforce-Generation Z and Millennials-not only want but expect their employer to provide workplace environment where they can
achieve the above. Our normal/traditional benefits are no longer enough for our
young Talents. Current generation of Talents are looking for a more rewarding, engaging
and meaningful work experiences. Workplace charitable causes plays a key role
in achieving a fulfilled workforce.
With that in mind, it’s high time for the introduction of SGL Shared Sustainability Cause
Matching. SG/BU needs to introduce a Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) Program whereby, SGL Talents are encouraged to voluntarily
participate in such programs as we work on building Companies that would last
for 100 years +. This will lead to a stronger and more connected Teams, we will
be the leading Group in retention rate, this will increase our pride in where
we work-and it will also lead to increased employer brand awareness, happier,
healthier Talents and time to cultivate sense of purpose as we strive to
achieve our Group Vision.
With the money collected from our Talent Voluntary CSR, every
year, we will be
seedlings (any number depending on the voluntary contribution
and company matching).
We approach any local schools in the environments we operate in
for the seed
CSR. Our Sovereign Group Shared Sustainability Matching Cause
will be called, & SGL
ADOPT A TREE. Each school or Business Unit Talents will appoint its Staff/students to adopt the trees from seedling form to plantation to full grown tree. Especially the new Talents/lower classes which will ensure as the years go by, the tree also grows to fruition. Remember our seedlings are NOT trees. Our Focus is on Fruit considering that this will NOT only be a solution to Deforestation, but it will also be of great nutritional value to the locals of where we operate in Avocado, Lemon, Oranges and macadamia. This is part of our long-term measures as a Group to address the devastating effects of climate change and desertification.
This is aimed at protecting the environments
we operate in, heritage and splendour for enduring benefit of the present and future
generations. These initiates will be our Group People driven.
This can be our SGL tradition on October 13th every year and for sure, at the end of it all, it would build critical mass and in the long run, considering that Sovereign is a years plus Group, we will end up building a FACTORY and we will have all the schools who have been in the program to supply the fruits and the same schools will be shareholders in the factory and by that time, a million international NGOs will be fighting to be stakeholders and we will have Percent made the WORLD A BETTER PLACE for all our Stakeholder. Let us build a better Planet. Fruit tree will reduce the cost of living in the world!
